I am in japan right now.

my parents just told me that

i can't go to fashion school.

1) they don't wanna pay tuition

2) they don't want me to do student loan

3) they want me back in japan.

So I spent 25 hours of my weekend finishing up my

fashion sketchs for my thesis. Below is one of them.

So my thesis is - making dresses / clothings for a Japanese-American Actress

using American & Japanese wedding gowns.

In other words, I am re-making a new clothings for celebs using gowns that already exist.

It's going to be WHITE collection since I am making them using white gowns...DUH!

since I don't know ANYTHING about financial aid and scholarship and all that shit.

I just know that I am gonna work my ass off during summer in Japan so that

I have enough money to at least pay for my education for a year.

I don't want to do student loans.

That just too much.

If anything, I will borrow money from my parents.

I don't want to borrow from anyone else...

it's gonna be way too much interests and yeah... it's kinda like DEBTs...

so my parents are gonna be against it too.

I am thinking of applying to FIT & Parsons for their associate program in Fashion Design.

I think I NEED BASIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS in fashion design.

My dream is big. I don't just want to be T-shirt designer.

I want to be able to make dresses and jackets too.

I don't know what my parents are going to say but i think I want to pay everything myself,

since they paid everything for my undergrad in Umich.

so I'll look into financial aid and student loans and stuff...

yeah... I don't know... I finally want to LEARN something.

I think good artists steal good ideas from other artist,

and make them into their own (MAKE THEM BETTER),

and get successful result out of it.

Bad artist will just copy, and get bad result.

I think the result is what it all matters.

A Bathing Ape - mi

When Americans started going crazy about BAPE couple years ago,

I thought "wow, americans are so late"...

that is because I guess I am Japanese and

I knew about Bape since I was in middle school.

Did i love it? I was so so about it.

That time, I was really into PINK & girly stuff.

I was like... errr... ape? no way! lol

But now, I appreciate Bape, and

Nigo (creator of BAPE) makes me proud to be a Japanese designer.

Nigo was selected to be one of 20 Asian Heroes by TIMES magazine.

I think it's COOL! Japanese designer, being a hero? what can be better?

Internationally recognized Japanese designers always make me proud.

From Shu Uemura to Rei Kawakubo.

I wish someday, I can be an internationally recognized designer and

make my people proud too :)

I have a big dream. VERY BIG DREAM.

CHICAGO TRIP - mim

Hello all my shameless readers!

So, vicky and I went to Chi-town for thanxgiving weekend (sat-sun) to promote our clothing line.

We thought - WE HAVE TO HAVE OUR LINE IN CHI -.

Yes, chicago is the biggest city in the midwest, but most importantly

we thought that them trendsetters like kanye and lupe are from Chi, and

in order for us to enter this STREETWEAR WORLD, our shirts must be accepted in chi.

First, we went to Leaders and met people at the boutique.

We exchanged cards but because they only carry clothing for males,

they told us to go to other places like Solmates and Jugrnaut!

Then we went to solemate because it was closer... but i don't know...

even though i liked the things they sold and stuff, they weren't really our style.

To describe it in color, it was more like... DARK.

Our style is more like... RAINBOW.

This boutique had this Hippie taste to it... which was not really what we represent.

...and it was already 6:30PM!!!!!

So we got in the car and tried to find Jugrnaut!

however.... WE GOT LOST in wicker park.

OMG... i didn't know if i was going west or east or north or south...

and we thought they were gonna close at 7, so i was driving like a maniac!

Finally we found the boutique in downtown chi, and I dropped Vic off in front of the boutique first and tried to find parking spot.

but c'mon, this parking lot mofo wanted me to pay $10 for 30 min at this parking space infront of the boutique...

... i was seriously like ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

so i parked at the gas station... LOLLLLL.

i was SOOOO desperate to get inside the boutique because i thought that this was our last CHANCE since it was already like 7:15.

and youknow, that freakin eminem's song was in my head...

"You only get one shot, do not miss you chance to blow. This opportunity comes once in a lifetime!" haha...

even though i think eminem is a crazy man, i just think this song is SO inspiring... haha

FORTUNATELY, boutique was open til 8, so we were able to talk to all the owners.

(they have like 4 owners!!! wow!!!)

I really liked the atmosphere of the boutique! it was seriously OUR STYLE!

SO BOLD, COLORFUL, & FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They really liked our shirts too and we were able to get them to sell our shirts... YES!

Being a Designer - mimy

I am designing new shirts for our 2nd collection. For our first collection, i literally had more than 60 designs and Vicky and I choose 2 from them. I am setting up deadline for myself so I basically have to come up with 60 designs in a week. I am pretty sure I can do it. I LOVE pushing myself to the limit and torturing myself like this... hahaha.

Story behind "GUCCI BITCHZ LOVE THEM LOUIS VUITTON DONS"

I came up with this design in Japan when I was there for my grandfather's funeral. Vicky and I already decided that we were going to print "QUEEN BITCH" shirt. Other designs that we liked were OK but nothing really stood out for me. I was reflecting all the things that had happened past few year and how I was in lots of different relationships. One of the reasons one of the relationships didn't work was because our VALUES were way too different. As you probably know, I am from West Bloomfield Michigan where many BITCHZ wear JUICY and carry CHANEL bags to school. BUT this one guy who I used to go out with was... hmmm... howshould i say it... not financially stable. I never knew anyone who didn't really know designers and didn't really appreciate designers... that was a BIG SURPRISE for me!!!! So our values were VERY VERY different, therefore this design came out. GUCCI BITCHZ LOVE THEM LOUIS VUITTON DONS. I want my man to understand my LOVE for designers! DESIGNER BAGS ARE THE BEST!!!!!! it's even GREAT if he LOVES designers too. I think guys who wear designers are sexy!

i do too.

i read VOGUE, COSMOPOLITAN, NYLON...etc

but me and vicky's favorite is definately japanese magazine, VIVI!

VIVI is the SHIT!

you can't compare japanese magazine with ANY OTHER magazines.

JAPANESE FASHION MAGAZINES ARE DEFIANTLY THE BEST!!

if you read them, you know what im talking about!!!

they tell you how to coordinate clothes, how to do cool make up step by step,

how to do cute hair... they are SO useful! i feel like im not wasting my money on them!!!
